Science
NPES students are inherently curious and naturally approach the world like scientists. From our constructivist perspective, we believe that new knowledge is acquired when inquiry and discovery are at the heart of learning in a dynamic, hands-on environment. Our science curriculum asks students to examine real-world phenomena and apply scientific skills to investigate and ideate. Students frequently engage in the formal design thinking process rooted in empathy and focused on developing solutions for complex problems. The Innovation Lab is often utilized in connection with the science curriculum.
Our curriculum is guided by the Next Generation Science Standards, which define cohesive, age-appropriate standards focused on depth over breadth of the key scientific ideas and engineering practices that all students should master.
