CHICAGO, IL – September 6, 2024 – North Park Elementary School (NPES) proudly celebrated the grand opening of its high-tech Innovation Lab today, a momentous occasion attended by board members; friends from the Chamber of Commerce; and, most importantly, the generous donors who contributed to the school’s highest grossing paddle raise at its most recent Gala, this tremendous achievement allowed in the creation of this expanded high-tech space for its students.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was a wonderful celebration of community and progress. Guests were treated to a firsthand look at the lab’s cutting-edge technology, with students eagerly showcasing their newfound knowledge and skills. Equipped with 3-D printers, drones, a laser engraver, sewing machines, and an updated robotics center, the Innovation Lab continues to be a hub for creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
Brad Riggs, Director of Educational and Operational Technology, shared his excitement for the new lab, which is three times larger than the previous space. "This expansion allows us to accommodate a full class at once, making it possible for all students to engage in hands-on, project-based learning simultaneously. The tools and resources available in the lab will enable students to express themselves in innovative ways and develop solutions that can positively impact our community."
We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, and especially to the families who contributed to making this vision possible. This space is not just a lab—it's a launching pad for future innovators. We can’t wait to see the lasting impact it will have on our students and community.
